The challenge for A&S Insurance was to move away from the ‘cubicle’ mentality of days gone by to a new office renovation concept and bring transparency and development. As a pre-eminent interior design firm, we had to set up headquarters that would seem established yet innovative, like the evolving world of insurance.
The concept of the design was based on the premise of “Connected Privacy”, where the senior management remained reachable and at the same time provided with the solitude needed for their sensitive activities. The office interior planning solutions incorporated the use of the best glass dividers to achieve a setting where the director’s offices, the boardroom, and the common working areas appeared to be one single entity.
Architectural bulkheads & louvers:
A number of architectural bulkheads and louvres were designed and included in this project, including timber louvres in the reception and boardroom areas.
Premium Glass Walling:
Since the aim here is not to compartmentalise the cubicles, we decided on the use of 8 mm laminated glass, which is framed with slim, matte black aluminium.
"The Signing Entrance":
First impressions must count. We have designed a signing entrance and reception area, which gives a professionalism message to every client visiting us from the first instance.

Expert Acoustic Design :
With textured wall finishes and acoustic louvres in the ceilings, sound quality had to be carefully addressed in this office environment to ensure this shared work area is productive and free from echoes.
The colour strategy was meant to be reassuring and brand-focused:
We anchored the design for the room through a foundation colour scheme of soft grey and matte black, providing a timeless and elegant feel.
Serenity Blue was incorporated using carpet tiling. The Accent incorporates the colour element for this insurance brand while at the same time symbolising serenity.
Craftsmanship in the Executive Suite:
Even in the Director’s offices, the woodwork is an exhibition of luxury craftsmanship.
Integrated Storage:
In order to ensure that our office space at all times remained clutter-free, we supplied integrated storage units which blended seamlessly into the gypsum walls to maximise space at the Westlands site.
Light is the most effective tool for enhancing productivity. The lighting designed and implemented at our office in Nairobi included:
Reflective Surfaces:
This is whereby the materials that make up the laminate flooring and the epoxy matte finish have minimal absorption of light, thereby allowing a lot of light to be reflected.

Strategy Space Optimisation:
We manage to accommodate two executive offices, two boardrooms, working stations, a kitchen, and a reception in the layout, which looks really spacious.
Quality Material Selection:
Each and every material, right from the black framing to carpet tiles, has been selected for its quality and upscale texture.
Operational Efficiency:
It allows for efficient information flow, further permitting collaboration across different departments.
