What services does Diba Archiventure provide?

We are a full-service design-build firm. Our services include architectural design, interior design, turnkey interior fit-outs, tensile fabric structure design/fabrication, acoustic panel supply and installation, and general construction management. Essentially, we can take a project from the initial idea all the way to completion, handling both design and build aspects in-house.

Do you handle projects outside Nairobi or Kenya?

Yes. While our office is in Nairobi, we operate across Kenya and the broader East Africa region. We have undertaken projects in neighboring countries (for example, Uganda) and are open to international collaborations. Our team is experienced in managing remote projects and coordinating logistics across borders, ensuring our high standards are met wherever we work.

How does the design-build process work at Diba Archiventure?

In a design-build approach, our team takes care of everything from design through construction. First, we’ll consult with you to understand your requirements and come up with a design concept. Once the design and budget are approved, our construction team will execute the plan. This integrated process often saves time and money because potential issues are caught early and there’s a single point of accountability. We keep you updated at all stages, and you’ll have the opportunity to review progress to ensure the project stays aligned with your vision.

How long does an interior fit-out project typically take?

Timeline depends on the project scope and size. However, for a standard office interior fit-out in Kenya (for example, ~5,000 sq. ft.), it might take about 6–8 weeks from start of construction to handover. This includes demolition (if needed), partitioning, finishes, and installation of furnishings. Design and planning stages are separate and could take a few weeks prior. We always provide a detailed schedule upfront and strive to meet all deadlines. Factors like material lead times or client revisions can affect timelines, but we communicate proactively to adjust as needed. Our focus is on completing projects efficiently without compromising quality.

What materials do you use for tensile structures? Are they durable?

We use high-quality, specialized materials for our tensile membrane structures. The fabrics are usually PVC-coated polyester or PTFE (Teflon) coated fiberglass, and in some cases ETFE foil for roof projects – all sourced from leading global manufacturers. These materials are engineered to be extremely durable: they are UV-resistant (won’t degrade under intense sun), waterproof, and flame-retardant. The support structure (frames, masts, cables) are made of structural steel or aluminum, designed to withstand wind loads and other forces. With proper maintenance, tensile structures can last 15-30 years or more. We also provide maintenance guidelines and can offer service contracts to inspect and care for the structures, ensuring longevity. Additionally, our designs account for local environmental factors (like not accumulating rainwater and handling wind gusts common in certain areas).

Can Diba Archiventure customize acoustic panels or are they standard products?

Absolutely, we can customize acoustic panels. We offer a range of standard acoustic panel products, but we often tailor solutions to each project’s aesthetic and acoustic requirements. Panels can be custom-cut into various shapes or engraved with patterns. We can also print graphics or company logos on certain acoustic panels (great for branded office spaces). Thickness and density can be chosen based on the level of sound absorption needed. Our team will work with you to pick colors that complement your interior. In many cases, we create a bespoke acoustic design – for example, a feature wall of artistic sound-absorbing tiles that becomes a focal point in the room while serving its noise-reduction purpose. This customization sets us apart from simply buying generic acoustic foam; it ensures the solution is effective and visually fitting.

How do you ensure your projects stay within budget?

Cost control is a critical part of our project management. During the design phase, we perform detailed cost estimation and value engineering – this means we plan the project to meet your budget, making smart choices on materials and finishes that achieve the desired look without unnecessary expense. Once the project is underway, we provide transparent updates on expenditures. As a design-build firm, we have an advantage: our designers and builders work together to prevent over-designing (which can lead to cost overruns) and to find efficiencies in construction methods. We also have established supplier relationships and, often, bulk purchasing power which can reduce material costs for you. Any potential budget issue is flagged early, and we collaborate with you to adjust scope or specs if needed, so there are no surprises. Our goal is to deliver on budget, and many of our projects have even come in under budget due to our efficient processes.

Do your services/products come with a warranty?

Yes, we stand by the quality of our work and products. We offer warranties on different components: for instance, a typical interior fit-out workmanship warranty could be 12 months post-completion (covering any construction defects, subject to normal use). For products like tensile structures, the fabric usually comes with a manufacturer’s warranty (often 5-10 years depending on the material) and we warranty our steel workmanship against structural defects. Acoustic panels and installations might have a warranty of 1-2 years against manufacturing defects (they’re passive products so issues are rare). The specific warranty terms will be clearly stated in our contract, as they vary by product. Additionally, we provide user manuals or care instructions as needed, and our team is available to support even after the warranty period – many clients stay in touch with us for long-term maintenance and future upgrades.
