Innovative Co-Working Space

Design Concept

Adaptive Reuse Interior Project. We collaborated on transforming a former warehouse in Nairobi’s industrial area into a vibrant co-working hub and innovation center. The project involved architectural modifications and a complete interior fit-out. We retained the industrial charm (exposed beams and brickwork) while adding modern amenities: private meeting pods, acoustic wall panels made of PET felt for noise control, creative lighting, and ergonomic furniture. We also incorporated local art and recycled materials (like wooden pallets repurposed into decor) to give the space a unique identity.

Key Design Elements

Value delivered:

The new hub has attracted a community of startups and creatives, thanks to its functional yet artistic environment. The project was successful due to our flexible design approach and stakeholder engagement – we involved the eventual users through workshops to tailor the space to their needs. Additionally, sustainable design choices (energy-efficient systems, natural ventilation strategies) reduced operational costs for the client. This project earned media attention as a model for sustainable urban redevelopment.

Neutral Color Palette:

A minimalist color scheme of whites, grays, and muted tones will dominate. Accents of wood, metal, and glass will be incorporated to add warmth and texture without overwhelming the space.

Furniture and Decor:

Sleek, functional furniture with clean lines will be chosen. There will be minimal decoration, with only select statement pieces such as artwork or sculptures that align with the minimalist aesthetic. Multi-functional furniture (like storage-integrated seating) will be used to maintain tidiness.

Natural Light:

Large windows, glass doors, and strategically placed skylights will ensure an abundance of natural light, enhancing the sense of space and promoting energy efficiency.
